چکیده

We report on the observation of Faraday waves in a cigar-shaped Fermi superfluid $^6$Li parametrically excited by modulating radial trap frequency. characterize phenomenon as function interaction parameter means Feshbach resonance. Starting from BEC side resonance we observe drop visibility pattern approach to unitarity, possibly due increased incompressibility system. probe excitation spectrum extracting an effective 1D speed sound for different values parameter, good agreement with numerical simulations. Finally, perform stability analysis space using simplified model and show emergence unstable solutions Mathieu-like equation.

Observation of shock waves in a strongly interacting Fermi gas.

We study collisions between two strongly interacting atomic Fermi gas clouds. We observe exotic nonlinear hydrodynamic behavior, distinguished by the formation of a very sharp and stable density peak as the clouds collide and subsequent evolution into a boxlike shape. We model the nonlinear dynamics of these collisions by using quasi-1D hydrodynamic equations. Our simulations of the time-depend...

Drag effect and topological complexes in strongly interacting two-component lattice superfluids.

The mutual drag in strongly interacting two-component superfluids in optical lattices is discussed. Two competing drag mechanisms are the vacancy-assisted motion and proximity to a quasimolecular state. In a case of strong drag, the lowest energy topological excitation (vortex or persistent current) can consist of several circulation quanta. In the SQUID-type geometry, the circulation can becom...

Pattern Selection in Faraday Waves

We present a systematic nonlinear theory of pattern selection for parametric surface waves (Faraday waves), not restricted to fluids of low viscosity. A standing wave amplitude equation is derived from the Navier-Stokes equation that is of gradient form. The associated Lyapunov function is calculated for different regular patterns to determine the selected pattern near threshold as a function o...

Parametric autoresonance in Faraday waves.

We develop a theory of parametric excitation of weakly nonlinear standing gravity waves in a tank, which is under vertical vibrations with a slowly time-dependent ("chirped") vibration frequency. We show that, by using a negative chirp, one can excite a steadily growing wave via parametric autoresonance. The method of averaging is employed to derive the governing equations for the primary mode....
